Cortex is a clinical-reasoning training game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
To run your account, save your progress, show leaderboards, deliver reminders and emergency cases you opt into, answer your questions through the optional AI tutor, and improve the app. We do not use your data for advertising.
Cortex Pro includes an optional “Ask AI about this case” tutor. When you ask a question, the details of the case you just completed and the messages you type are sent through our secure backend to a third-party AI provider you choose — OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google (Gemini) — solely to generate a reply. Please don’t enter personal or patient-identifying information. Your prompts are processed under those providers’ own policies (OpenAI, Google). This feature is for education only and is not medical advice.
Data is stored on Supabase, an encrypted cloud backend. Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google Play — we never see your card details. Sign-in is handled by Apple and Google; we never see your password. The optional AI tutor sends your questions to OpenAI or Google as described above.
Cortex Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed through the app store you subscribed on. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current billing period ends.
Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep Pro access until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google directly under their own policies; we're unable to issue refunds ourselves.
This website uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site — for example which pages are viewed and on what kind of device. Google sets cookies and processes this anonymised usage data on our behalf. We don't use it to identify you personally or for advertising. You can opt out with Google's Analytics Opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
You can play without an account, edit your display name, turn off notifications in your device settings, and sign out at any time. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (Me → Delete Account), or by emailing us — see “Deleting your account & data” below.

What is deleted: your account and sign-in identity (email / Google / Apple), your display name, and all gameplay data — XP, level, streaks, trophies, coins, solved-case history and your leaderboard and league entries. “Ask AI” tutor messages are not stored after a reply is generated, so nothing is retained there.
What may be kept: we do not retain personal data after deletion. Anonymised, non-identifying records (e.g. aggregate analytics) and information we are legally required to keep — such as tax or purchase records held by Apple or Google — may remain. Any residual copies in our encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
Cortex is for education and entertainment only. Nothing in the app is medical advice and it must never be used to diagnose or treat a real patient.
